Established in 1981, The Open Centre exists to increase understanding of cultural diversity through personal experience and, in order to facilitate rising demand for our experiences, we seek to appoint a Faith Trail Leader and Workshop Facilitator to provide visits to places of worship in Normanton, Derby, and cultural workshops across the East Midlands within a school environment.
The following posts are available on a casual, freelance basis:
– Mobile Exhibition Installer (£7.50 per travel hour, £7.50 per setup and takedown): The Open Centre have produced a seven panel pop-up exhibition available for hire. Taking around half an hour to set up and the same take down, the exhibition folds down into three boxes and can easily fit in a car. On average, we coordinate one hire each week across the county of Derbyshire. Mileage is paid at 40p per mile. Must have own car and a clean drivers licence.
– Faith Trail Leader (£10.60 per visit): The Open Centre coordinate visits to a Mosque, Hindu Temple, Sikh Gurdwara and Baptist Church in Normanton, and a Synagogue in Nottingham. To cope with rising demand, we are looking to employ an individual with expertise in Sikhism and knowledge of other faiths to lead visits in the local area. Previous experience of working with children in an educational environment preferred. Each visit tends to last between 45 minutes and one hour.
– Workshop Facilitator (£10.60 per hour): The Open Centre provide cultural workshops at schools across Central England, featuring block printing, cookery, mehndi patterns and Arabic badge-making. We are seeking to employ a creative, enthusiastic individual willing to travel across Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire to lead these workshops. Travel time and mileage are paid as above.
While the ability to fulfil all of the above positions is preferred, exceptional candidates in specific fields are encouraged to apply. Appointment subject to receipt of DBS certificate.
