Seven Schools this week, which has been our busiest week so far!
Monday we had both mobile exhibitions out in schools near Chesterfield (Abercrombie Primary School and Shirland Primary School) as part of their exciting faith weeks. At the Open Centre we had visits from over 200 pupils at King Edward VII Science and Sports College who visited the Hindu Temple and Sikh Gurdwara.
Tuesday we had all of Edgehill Junior Schools year 5’s who visited the different places of worship.
On Wednesday we were visited by Abercrombie Primary School and Rugely Academy who visited the local places of worship.
Thursday saw our busiest day; where staff were out at Abercrombie leading marriage workshops all day, Riddings Infants School taking part in cookery workshops at the Open Centre whilst also visiting the Sikh Gurdwara (“Good variety! Gurdwara and cookery. Children enjoyed the cookery workshop in particular” – Mrs Hammond – Teacher) and finally Alfreton Park Community School who visited the Hindu Temple.
Friday was rounded off by the rest of Abercrombie Primary School children taking part in their marriage workshops.
However we all ready to do it all over again next week!!!
“We had a wonderful week and thoroughly enjoyed working with the Open Centre. The Centre provided us with lots of support throughout the week. We enjoyed the faith trail very much.” Headteacher at Abercrombie Primary School.
“The pupils enjoyed working with the Heritage display and gained a valuable insight into families with different faiths and religions from their own. During the week, we had a whole school focus on The British Values of Tolerance.” Assistant Headteacher at Shirland Primary School.
