Schools and Visits – Week Commencing the 19th October 2015

Another busy week here at the Open Centre with six schools experiencing the wonders of different cultures in Derby City.

The week began with both mobile exhibitions being out in schools. One at Bramley Vale Primary School and the other at Fairfield Junior School in Buxton. Both made them an extra addition to their parents evenings along with supporting their children throughout their faith weeks.

Hardwick Primary School visited the Hindu Temple whilst St Martins’ School visited the Sikh Gurdwara.

A lovely visit from Corfield Primarys’ Year 2 children, who visited the Sikh Gurdwara and took part in a block printing workshop.

Tosh Raju – Teacher commented

“Well organised at the Gurdwara, Eve knew alot about Sikhism and the children enjoyed the printing workshop.”

To round the week off – Halfway Infant School had a fun filled day through and Islamic Assembly, marriage workshops and calligraphy workshops.

And even though next week is half term – some of the University of Derby students will be visiting us to experience all what the Mosque and Sikh Gurdwara has to offer.
