Schools and Visits – Week Commencing 23rd November 2015

November has seen a very busy month for the Open Centre with over 20 schools using our services. We have welcomed 737 visitors as part of our Faith Trails (87 more than last year), hosted 22 Workshops and hired out the Mobile Exhibition to 4 different places.

On Monday – Great Wyrley High School hired out our Mobile Exhibition and St Andres Primary School came to visit.

Lindsey Guest – St Andrew’s Teacher commented

“Children really enjoyed hands on elements to the cooking; found it very interesting being in a Mosque. A first hand experience we are not able to offer in school.”

On Tuesday, Lons Primary School, Ripley had an exciting time in their Marriage Workshops whilst Derby High and Portway Junior School visited the Mosque and Hindu Temple.

Wednesday was very busy, with Bladon House School  and Eckington Primary School sharing in the feast at the Sikh Gurdwara as part of Guru Nanak’s birthday.

Friesland School from Swadlincote visited all the local places of worship with their year 7’s, whilst competition winners from October, Wren Park Primary School enjoyed their Arabic Calligraphy Workshop.
