Schools and Visits – Week Commencing 2nd November 2015

Even though last week was half term for many schools, the Open Centre still opened its doors to the University of Derby and their Education Students who participated in a faith trail.

Jennifer Marshall – Senior Lecturer commented

“The students really enjoyed it and the staff were superb! A really good experience so thanks so much.”

Both mobile exhibitions were out this week; one at Buxton Junior School and the other at Town End Junior School in Tibshelf.

Buxton Junior School’s Headteacher – Cecilia Minter commented

“Staff felt pupils gained a lot from the display and they could have used it for longer which is great.”

Darley Churchtown came to visit us on the train from Matlock for a faith trail and Hindu Clay Diva workshop. (See some of their work above in the picture)

Dawn Watson – Teacher commented

“We had a fantastic day, very informative, just at the right level.”

Sinfin Community Childcare also took part in  a Hindu Clay Diva workshop with their nursery children.

Derby Grammar School and Lawn Primary School visited on Thursday the Mosque and Hindu Temple to help support their cultural knowledge.

Derby Grammar School – April Sly – Teacher commented

“Very informative. The boys really enjoyed it and learnt lots. It was good that a Muslim spoke from her point of view.”

Even by Friday we still had time to run a Marriage workshop at Coppice Primary School in Heanor.
