Another great week at the Open Centre with 428 visitors through our doors.
The Mobile Exhibition was out for the second year in a row at Buxton Junior School as part of their Faith Week.
Holy Trinity Primary School visited us on Monday to visit the Hindu Temple, Mosque and Gurdwara along with taking part in a Block Printing workshop.

Castlechurch Primary also returned to visit the Mosque and Hindu Temple before taking part in a Marriage workshop.

Faber Catholic School also came to visit us to see the Mosque, Hindu Temple and Sikh Gurdwara with 44 of their Year 2 and Year 6 children.
St James Junior School came over three mornings to see and learn about how the Qur’an is important to Muslims at the Mosque.

“The staff member was extremely knowledgeable about Islam. She had a calming influence on the children and the children listened well. Muslim children were chosen to demonstrate rituals in the Mosque which they really enjoyed.”
Church Broughton also visited the different places of worship in Derby, whilst Heanor Langley Infant School visited the Orthodox Synagogue in Nottingham. Their teacher commented… “The Rabbi was brilliant with the children, explaining everything to them at a level they could understand and he really helped cement the children’s prior learning on Judaism.”
Finally the week ended with All Saint’s Infant School from Matlock bringing their Year 2 children to take part in faith trails and workshops.

Another 300 children are expected to visit us next week to learn about faith, religion and diversity.
