We have had a great week again at the Open Centre even though everyone is now preparing for the holidays.
Monday morning we met the reception children of Fairmeadows School from Swadlincote, who came for a Hindu experience. The children visited the Hindu Temple and took part in a Hindu Marriage Workshop afterwards. All the children were very positive about the experience.
Walton on Trent had a lovely afternoon where both children and parents learnt about Islam, with an interactive assembly and Q and A session afterwards.
Pennine Way Junior Academy brought 70 students in two groups to visit the mosque. In the afternoon, Hartshorne Primary School learnt about Diwali in a whole school assembly and artefacts session afterwards.
On Thursday, we were blessed with the presence of Radio Derby, who came to visit and talk to the Year 10 pupils from Kingsmead Pupil Referral Unit about their experiences through the Open Centre. They visited the Mosque, Hindu Temple and the Sikh Gurdwara.
We will keep you posted when those interviews will be aired.
Next week we are looking forward to working with Derby College students, over a couple of days as part of their faith week.
