Wow!!!! What a very busy week starting back after half term. The Open Centre has welcomed 562 children from schools all across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
The week began with Lady Manners School bringing two groups of children on Monday and Wednesday to see the Hindu Temple, Mosque and Sikh Gurdwara. They will be back next week with two more groups.
Local school Gayton Junior School brought over 80 children to the Sikh Gurdwara to experience Sikhism. Whilst George Spencer Academy returned with 124, year 8 children to see the Mosque, Sikh Gurdwara and the Church along with taking part in an Asian Food Tasting workshop.
Becket Primary also came to visit the Sikh Gurdwara with their Year 6 children and will return next week with the second group.
Lower Risley School had an assembly about Christianity.
Shirebrook Academy brought 66 year 7’s to visit the Mosque, Hindu Temple and take part in Marriage workshops.
Finally the week ended with Arboretum and Hasland Infant School bringing over 150 children to the Hindu Temple, where they also got to learn about their culture through clothes and food.
