Schools and Visits – Week Commencing 7th March 2016

Only 11 days into March and the Open Centre has already welcomed over 580 visitors as part of their Faith Trails and have led 11 workshops, in and out of schools.

The week began with Walton on Trent Primary School bringing 34 children to see the Mosque and Sikh Gurdwara.

Both Mobile Exhibitions were out in schools, one at St Werburgh’s Primary School in Derby and the other at Dinting Primary School, all the way up in Glossop.

Bishop Pursglove Primary School brought 28 children to visit the Mosque and to take part in the Asian Cookery and Marriage workshops. Meanwhile Al-Madina brought 34 children to visit the Church, Sikh Gurdwara and the Mosque. The children asked a range of thought provoking questions during their visit to help extend their learning further.

Adcote School for girls travelled all the way from Shrewsbury to visit the Mosque and Hindu Temple along with taking part in a Marriage workshop in the afternoon.

Hartington Primary School also took part in Marriage and Cookery workshops at their school.

Springfields Junior School also visited the Mosque and Sikh Gurdwara with 45 children, while Pear Tree Infant School visited the Baptist Church with their Year 1 pupils for an interactive session.

The week ended with Burbage Primary School, in Buxton, taking part in Marriage workshops for the infant children and Hebrew Calligraphy workshops with their junior children exploring the theme of ‘Childhood’.
