Schools and Visits – Week Commencing 14th March 2016

A record number of 21 workshops took place this week through the Open Centre!!!

The week began with Hallam Fields Junior School  having the Mobile Exhibition out in their school to learn all about different faiths.

On Monday, Students at Orminston Ilkeston Enterprise Academy took part in Jewish Marriage and Asian Cookery workshops throughout the day. Meanwhile Richard Crosse Primary School visited the Mosque, Hindu Temple and Sikh Gurdwara with 59 Key Stage 2 children.

Rugeley Academy brought 35 year 8 students to see the Mosque and Sikh Gurdwara whilst Parwich Primary School brought 35 children to visit the Mosque and take part in Marriage and Cookery Workshops.

On Wednesday we worked with Bladon House Special School again but this time students took part in three different workshops; Jewish Music, African Block Printing and Mehndi.

“Very much enjoyed by all students –  especially the block painting when all were engaged all session.”

Kadampa Primary School also brought two groups to visit the Sikh Gurdwara.

On Thursday – Taddington Primary School came to the Open Centre to take part in two workshops; Arabic Badge Making and Hindu Marriage.

“Very knowledgeable and friendly host, the children were instantly engaged and enjoyed asking questions and learning all about marriage ceremonies.”

The week came to a close with Riddings Junior School taking part in two Hajj workshops.
